Job Description
Attendance Officer - Primary School, North Sheffield 
Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join a welcoming primary school in North Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and compassionate individual who is committed to improving pupil attendance and supporting families to ensure every child has the best opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor daily pupil attendance and make timely contact with families regarding absences.
- Maintain accurate attendance records in line with school policies and statutory procedures.
- Promote punctuality and support the development of positive attendance habits across the school community.
- Investigate unexplained absences through effective communication with parents and carers, preparing and implementing appropriate follow-up actions.
- Conduct home visits, welfare checks, and family engagement meetings to support attendance improvement and pupil wellbeing.
- Work closely with school leaders, pastoral teams, and external agencies to address attendance concerns and identify barriers to regular school attendance.
- Produce attendance reports and contribute to attendance monitoring and intervention strategies.
- Previous experience in a school attendance, pastoral, safeguarding, or administrative role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence in managing sensitive conversations and maintaining confidentiality.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to supporting pupils and families.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous for home visits.
