About the RoleThe job is open to various experience levels and offers a path for an entry level of Assistant Planner, mid-level Area Planner up to the higher level of Senior Planning Officer, dependent on your level of experience.
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated person who would like to join our planning team to help strengthen our successful Planning Service.
You will play a key role in evaluating and determining a wide range of planning applications, from minor to major depending on your level of experience.
You will also help to shape the evolution of our service and play a critical role in being a part of our "grow your own" ethos.
About YouTo succeed in this role, you will:
- Have relevant town planner qualifications or be working towards a qualification (or hold a related qualification)
- You will have experience of development management with some knowledge of processes and procedures and planning legislation including knowledge of the planning appeals process.
- To be considered for the Development Management Planner or Senior Development Management Planner level, have experience of preparing reports and appeal statements and presenting applications to Planning Committee
- Have strong effective skills in diplomacy and negotiation
- Possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Be passionate about design quality, sustainability, and community engagement
