Associate/Associate Director Control Systems/Cybersecurity - (189675)

HDR is looking for an Associate Control Systems/Cybersecurity to serve in a project leadership role in support of our global Control Systems and Cybersecurity practice which includes full-service capabilities and supports clients in multiple industries and market sectors providing control system assessment, planning, design, cybersecurity, testing & commissioning, and maintenance. This role will be primarily focused on control systems design & cybersecurity in coordination with clients and multidiscipline teams to deliver full-service control systems solutions for construction and implementation in multiple market sectors including critical infrastructure, tech, media & telecom; healthcare, research, and life sciences.

Primary responsibilities

• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Lead development of biddable and technically accurate Control Systems and Cybersecurity construction documents including P&IDs, network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, installation details, loop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Serve as Engineer of Record in responsible charge for the development of biddable and technically accurate control system construction documents.
• Interface with Electrical, Process, and Cybersecurity specialists to fully coordinate design requirements for network, power, control, and instrumentation.
• Coordinate control system discipline staff workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed including coordination with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
• Travel to client facilities to participate in field activities to assess and document the current state of installed control systems.
• Participate in and lead design review and planning meetings with the client.
• Provide Quality Control (QC) reviews of control system designs.
• Supervise and develop a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Update workplans for control systems staff assigned to your project, and track budget and schedule performance for the control systems team.
• Participate in joint scoping and proposal development working with clients and marketing staff.
• Contribute to Control System Technical Leadership Team and drive corporate initiatives for quality and strategic growth within the Control Systems Discipline.
• Contribute to growth strategy for control systems and cybersecurity in the Europe and Middle East regions.
• Active participation in industry professional societies to contribute to the development of standards, participate in the development and delivery of presentations and whitepapers at industry trade shows and conferences, and develop article content for general industry and market sector specific newsletters and periodicals.
• Growth opportunities: exposure to multiple market sectors and core services of our global control systems program; training and development to build skillset to serve as market sector and core service subject matter expert (SME); advancement to Senior Control Systems Engineer or regional leadership.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of UK Network and Information Systems Regulations (NIS) for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and EU NIS2 is a plus.
• Experience with managing control systems projects for scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience and desire to develop a UK control systems team.
• Experience with UK / EU design delivery methods for Critical Infrastructure, Building Automation and/or data centers.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer license
