Birkbeck, University of London, has an opportunity for an Associate Tutor in Political Communication to join the teaching team and support its School of Social Sciences this coming Autumn term 2026.
- Political Communication: Media, Campaigns, and Citizens
- Thursdays, 6-9pm, 8 October - 17 December plus any prep time and marking time, flexibly
This post offers a chance to develop your teaching while drawing on a broad-based knowledge of politics, including British and comparative politics, elections, media and campaigns. You will support seminar teaching: facilitating group work and breakout presentations, and moderating discussion to keep students engaged throughout the session. You will also support our hyflex delivery, helping to involve students who join online so they take a full part in the session alongside those in the room.
You will assist with assessment, marking and moderation across a range of tasks (critical reviews, research proposals and oral presentations).
This is a development post, ideally suited to a PhD researcher or someone at an early career stage.
Essential criteria- You will have demonstrable knowledge of politics and political communication.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching at higher education level and of marking student work.
