We're working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy that is continuing to grow its Planning and Environment team across Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Associate Town Planner / Associate Director to join a well-established consultancy, work on high-profile projects and take on increased responsibility across a growing portfolio of work.

The role offers hybrid working from either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office, providing flexibility while still giving you the opportunity to collaborate with a strong team of technical specialists.

The consultancy works across a diverse range of sectors, including energy, transport and defence, supporting clients on complex and often nationally significant development projects.

The Opportunity

This Associate Town Planner / Associate Director position is suited to an experienced planner who is confident providing strategic planning advice, managing projects and building strong client relationships.
You'll have the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of development projects, taking responsibility for planning deliverables from project inception through to completion. You'll also play an important role in developing client relationships, supporting business growth and mentoring less experienced members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a diverse range of planning applications and associated supporting documents.
• Provide strategic planning advice to private-sector clients across a range of development types.
• Develop and implement planning strategies from project inception through to delivery.
• Manage key client relationships and act as a trusted planning adviser.
• Lead and coordinate planning-related deliverables across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Represent clients at meetings, public consultations, hearings and other planning forums where required.
• Identify and support new business opportunities, helping to grow the planning consultancy in Scotland.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level planning professionals.
• Contribute to the continued growth and profile of the business across the Scottish market.

About You

We're looking for an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a proven track record within planning consultancy or a similar environment.

You'll ideally have:

• MRTPI / Chartered Planner status.
• A degree in Planning or a related RTPI-accredited qualification.
• Significant post-qualification experience within planning consultancy or a similar environment.
• Experience managing planning projects across a range of development types.
• The ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience leading projects and/or teams.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and developing business.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to deadlines.

Experience of Section 36 or Section 37 applications, Development Consent Orders (DCOs), or major infrastructure projects would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
