Job Description

Our Building Design Practice is looking to appoint an Associate Fire Engineer to further develop their career within a forward-thinking team. This role involves working as part of a national team delivering fire engineering solutions across sectors such as Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential, and Transportation.

Location flexibility is available. While most of our Fire Engineering team are based in Epsom and London, we aim to expand in the North and South West. Preferred UK locations include Bristol, Epsom, London, or Derby.

As a senior team member, you will manage your projects and collaborate with other senior members to develop the team and technical capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Work across various sectors, including residential, rail, and energy facilities.
  2. Manage multiple projects from inception to delivery, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and supporting junior team members.
  3. Support project delivery, tracking milestones and budgets.
  4. Stay updated with regulations and legislation.
  5. Be chartered or working towards Chartership with a relevant institute.
  6. Develop fire strategies and assess fire risks, collaborating on mitigation strategies.
  7. Review fire safety installations and undertake tenders.
  8. Develop client relationships and prepare reports.
  9. Support and develop junior staff and act as a technical reviewer.
Requirements:
  1. Engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering, or postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (other backgrounds considered).
  2. Experience in fire engineering roles, including outside consultancy.
  3. Knowledge of fire standards like BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545.
  4. Proven success in delivering fire strategies; fire modelling experience is beneficial.
  5. Working towards chartered fire engineer status.
  6. Flexible approach, willingness to travel, good commercial awareness, customer focus, and structured report writing skills.
