Associate Director of Finance - Financial Management - 22.5 hours

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Finance & Procurement is proud to be a Level 3 Towards Excellence rated team, with staff development at the heart of all it does. We are looking for a part time Associate Director of Finance specialising in Financial Management to come and join our team. This role is a shared role where two post holders will combine and work together to lead and deliver a highly effective financial reporting function for the Trust, meeting the changing needs of internal and external demands. We are looking for someone to work part time for a minimum of three days per week; two fixed days per week (Thursday and Friday) and one other day to be agreed, whilst also offering the ability to combine working from home to facilitate effective work life balance. The hours are 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are to provide a high-quality financial management service throughout the Trust so that accurate and timely management information can be provided on the overall financial position for the Trust. This will include reporting on the income and expenditure position including achievement of CIP and will including reporting of this to the Trust Assurance Committees, NHSE and GM as the Integrated Care System (ICS)

Applicants should demonstrate a high level of financial skills gained ideally in an NHS environment, with focus on financial reporting and modelling. You must demonstrate analytical, communications and people management skills and have a thorough understanding of the reporting requirements for NHS Finance. You must be able to influence both internal and external customers, build strong relationships, work under pressure and prioritise workload efficiently.

Job responsibilities

The key duties of the role are to:

Support the Director of Finance in the delivery of the delivery of annual financial plans and their translation into agreed budgets across the organisation, in accordance with the Finance Regime and within the financial control total for the IC.

Effectively ensure the production of key statutory returns for the Trust in accordance with the national defined timescales.

Report on the year-end forecast for the Trust, co-ordinating the divisional forecasts and reviewing overall risk including delivery of CIP.

Jointly manage the financial management team, ensuring that all reporting deadlines are adhered to and quality standards are maintained.

Provide comprehensive and high-quality financial planning support to enable robust modelling to take place for the Trusts short, medium and long term financial models, working in conjunction with other senior finance colleagues.

Work closely with all levels of clinical and operational management, to maximise financial performance in order to support the delivery of high quality healthcare.

Deputise for the Director of Finance as appropriate and undertake all duties in line with the requirements of the role to support in the delivery of financial governance and assurance

  • Demonstrable CPD as recognised by professional body
Skills
  • Breadth and depth of awareness with regard to the issues facing the NHS e.g. NHS plan, Access Targets, Changing financial regimes
Experience
  • NHS finance knowledge or experience
  • Experience at a senior level within an acute setting or equivalent
  • Experience of leading budget setting
  • Experience of contributing to strategic financial planning
  • Experience of planning / financial management processes
  • Experience at a senior level within an acute setting or equivalent
  • Experience of leading aspects of the provision of financial governance and assurance to the Trust Board and stakeholders or equivalent
  • Experience of new business systems implementation
  • Experience of leading significant financial policy change
