Job Description

A highly reputable claims and disputes consultancy based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, is looking to hire an Associate Delay Director.

There is also an exciting opportunity for the Associate Director to open an office in a strategic location such as Birmingham, Leeds, London, or Manchester.

The successful candidate will likely be an existing Associate Director or Senior Consultant in Delay, with experience in a consultancy providing dispute resolution services.

This role offers exposure to a variety of assignments across multiple sectors, working with clients including main contractors, sub-contractors, and client organizations.

Responsibilities and Duties

As an Associate Director, reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will support senior management on complex disputes and manage your own client assignments related to claims on live projects. Your services will include:

  • Collaborating with Delay Analysts on disputed and time-related issues.
  • Reviewing construction programmes and providing guidance.
  • Advising clients to prevent conflicts with expert, commercially focused counsel.
  • Supporting clients on delay and loss matters.
  • Working with commercial experts on time-related issues.
  • Providing delay-related coaching and training to clients.
  • Report writing and representing clients in tribunals.
  • Collaborating with solicitors on construction disputes.
  • Business development activities.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience as a Lead Assistant to an Expert Witness.
  • Approximately 10 years postgraduate experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience in live planning, programming roles, or delay analysis at a disputes consultancy.
  • Familiarity with programmes and software such as P6, Asta Powerproject, MS Project.
  • Experience in managing or supporting formal disputes (advantageous but not essential).
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing experience.
  • Good knowledge of standard contract forms like NEC and JCT.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Degree qualification; a Masters in Construction Law is desirable.

Additional Benefits
