Position: Associate Director - Clinical Delivery (CD) & Clinical Delivery Capabilities (CDC), Exploratory Medicine and Pharmacology (EMP)
Contract Length: 12 month fixed term
Position OverviewProvides supervision, leadership and technical/process expertise for associates and managers within EMP, while leading cross therapeutic area (TA) strategic projects.
Primary Responsibilities- Coach and lead associate team members to ensure study start up, planning and execution are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate planning databases and ensure inspection readiness for all study teams.
- Escalate portfolio issues and coordinate with TA pillars and compliance teams for timely resolution.
- Manage resource needs, trade offs and priorities across therapeutic areas.
- Facilitate clinical function discussions to manage priorities and address unplanned demands.
- Maintain curriculum maps and training programmes, identify new learning opportunities and lead training on study start up processes.
- Promote consistent use of GCP, SOPs and best practices across clinical research activities.
- Lead cross TA standardization and efficiency projects and apply innovative solutions in real time.
- Generate and implement new processes to enhance productivity, quality and site/participant experience.
- Support team members in sharing new learning opportunities or technologies.
- Encourage use of metrics data for portfolio status monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Partner with other supervisors to clarify process steps and handoffs.
- Recruit, develop and retain a diverse and highly capable workforce.
- Ensure individual training plans are robust and completed on time.
- Support talent identification, career development and succession planning.
- Recognise and reward high performance and innovation.
- Manage workload based on portfolio prioritisation, regional requirements and individual expertise.
- Coach and mentor department personnel and cross functional members to foster development.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels and lead through others.
- Employ problem solving, persuasion, influence and negotiation skills within a matrix environment.
- Champion learning agility, strategic thinking and the incorporation of new insights.
- Provide constructive coaching and feedback to co workers.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry with direct experience managing clinical studies, ideally in exploratory and biopharmaceutics clinical development.
- Strong knowledge of regulations, guidelines and GCP.
- Effective cross cultural and virtual work environment experience.
- Influencing, problem solving and root cause diagnosis skills.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal and self management skills.
- Leadership and networking abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Travel up to 10% expected.
- Post graduate degree or advanced knowledge in exploratory biopharmaceutics clinical development preferred.
- High level end user computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations).
- Science or health related bachelor's degree a plus.
