Job Description

Job Title: Associate, Corporate Real Estate Loan Syndicate

Location: London

Hours: Full time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, involving at least three days per week, or 60% of our time, at our offices.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join our Corporate Real Estate ('CRE') Capital Markets and Syndicate team within the Debt Solutions team, part of Corporate and Institutional Banking. You'll support all aspects of loan origination and distribution, including coordination, underwriting, best efforts, and broader loan distribution mandates.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with CRE Originators to grow the business, lead on client pitches to win mandates involving coordination, underwriting, and best efforts
  • Leading new deal structuring through Term Sheet negotiation, advising on loan market conditions, and opining on market-facing elements of the terms to ensure successful loan distribution
  • Managing the primary syndication process, including creating information memorandums, answering investor questions, and assisting with trade settlement mechanics
  • Developing relationships across the CRE loan market and building market knowledge of the lending landscape
  • Supporting Capital Markets in executing and delivering whole loan underwrites, senior/mezzanine underwrites, back leverage, warehousing, and securitisation solutions
  • Leading negotiation, structuring, and execution of loan documentation with external advisors and internal partners
  • Managing internal approvals for Underwrite, Best Efforts, and Bridge transactions, including report writing and presenting to senior management
  • Contributing to origination and syndication strategies to grow the CRE business
  • Owning ongoing team reporting for external league tables and internal finance, balance sheet reporting, and reconciliation

What you'll need:

  • Experience in Real Estate Origination or Syndication, with understanding of financing requirements across various CRE asset classes; experience in advisory or professional services with transferable knowledge is also considered
  • Knowledge of other debt financing and risk management products (e.g., whole loans, back leverage, bonds, USPPs, derivatives, CMBS) is advantageous
  • Strong credit and financial analysis skills and their application in transaction structuring
  • Good understanding of the Loan Markets Association CRE Investment and Development Finance documentation
  • Established relationships with borrowers, advisors, banks, and investors
