- Developing project plans and inputting into budget setting.
- Building good working relationships with clients and third parties.
- Checking actuarial calculations, such as reconciliation of cashflows and insurer quotations.
- Supporting proposition development and new business opportunities.
- Mentoring less experienced team members and reviewing their work.
- Ensuring timely invoicing and adherence to internal procedures.
- Carrying out thorough scoping of work at the outset.
- Communicating relevant information to the wider team.
- Maintaining rigorous, accurate, and methodical work standards.
- Keeping comprehensive audit trails.
- Planning work to meet deadlines.
- Tracking work status according to procedures.
- Presenting work clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Liaising with client managers on conflicting demands.
- Collaborating with colleagues on technical or client issues.
- Recording time accurately against client and project codes.
- Adhering to Information Security policies.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Excellent interpersonal and client management skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and consulting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple demands.
- Coordination and delegation skills within teams.
- Motivated to develop an actuarial career in a client-focused environment.
- Proactive in developing consultancy and management skills.
- Membership of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (Associate or Fellow) or equivalent, with relevant risk transfer and bulk annuity broking experience preferred but not essential.
- Relevant pensions experience and understanding of UK pension scheme legislation, bulk annuity transactions, and buy-out processes.
- Solid grounding in actuarial and computer techniques.
We welcome applications from candidates who may not meet all listed attributes but are competent with the majority and can develop additional skills with our support.
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary and profit share scheme.
- Flexible employee benefits package.
- Supportive, collaborative work environment.
- On-site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
- Personal and professional development opportunities, including mentoring and access to our learning portal, Aspire.
- Regular social activities, three days paid volunteering leave annually, and a day off for your birthday.
