Job purpose:

Reporting directly to the Homelessness Policy Manager, the Assistant Principal Officer will provide detailed operational and functional support in the development and delivery of a number of strands relating to Homelessness Policy, with a particular focus on supporting the Public Protection Arrangements Northern Ireland (PPANI).

The essential criteria are detailed in the Candidate Information Pack.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • i) Possess a degree level qualification or equivalent professional qualification

OR

  • ii) Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning AND at least 2 years' experience working within a homeless function
  1. Candidates must demonstrate at least 1 year's experience of:
  • A) Working in a significant housing/homeless function/service, project/s, contract/s or programme of work, including ensuring effective governance arrangements are developed and maintained
  • B) Working collaboratively to support multi-agency arrangements such as ability to attend and contribute to case conferences
    • Hold a recognised professional Housing qualificationCandidates must demonstrate their relevant experience in all of the following areas:
      • A) The implementation of homelessness policy in an operational environment and/or development of homelessness policy/strategy
      • B) Effective written and verbal communication skills, including drafting reports and demonstrating effective negotiation skills
      • C) Working as a part of team and supporting and mentoring staff in the administration of tasks
      • D) Analysing and interpreting data and managing complex information to improve service provision
      • Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full including with reasonable travel timeframes

Desirable Criteria

  • Hold a recognised professional Housing qualification
