The Department of Arts at South East Technological University invites applications for the position of Assistant Lecturer in English Literature. The appointee will contribute to the delivery and development of English Literature modules across programmes within the Department.

English at SETU engages students with drama, fiction and poetry in English from Ireland and across the world, spanning the early modern period to the present day. Students develop skills in literary criticism, close reading, critical thinking, research, academic writing and presentation, while examining the role of literature and theatre in shaping identities and responding to political and social challenges. The subject also reflects the strong literary and dramatic traditions of Waterford and the wider South-East. Drama, theatre and performance form an important strand within the curriculum, enabling students to explore dramatic texts in their literary, cultural and performance contexts. The programme is enriched by opportunities for engagement with the region's vibrant literary, theatrical and cultural communities.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, assessment and student support; the supervision of independent study where appropriate; programme development and quality assurance; and research, creative practice or other scholarly activity aligned with English Literature.
