Assistant Head and Enforcement Manager - Building Control WCC624470

Salary range: £79,005 - £88,149 per annum. Salary negotiable depending upon experience. Plus a Market Supplement of £10,000.

Work location: Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, Westminster, SW1E 6QP

Hours per week: 36

Role Overview

As an Assistant Head and Enforcement Manager, you will provide effective leadership to a team of specialists, managing a caseload that covers a full range of developments and complex schemes. You will give high level, expert professional and technical advice to colleagues, partner agencies and managers, and act as a source of guidance and expertise.

Through managing specialist or technical assessments and activities, you will deliver the Building Control function throughout the Council's jurisdiction, ensuring buildings comply with health, safety, sustainability, energy, conservation, accessibility, and design standards.

You will routinely review training, competency and licensing to ensure your team are qualified for the work they undertake, conduct technical audits and assessments with surveyors, and collaborate with external educational and government organisations to advance building control training. You will also develop and maintain excellent working relationships.

Most importantly, you will be a motivating, empathetic and supportive leader, providing the expert level guidance your team needs to protect communities and residents across Westminster.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of building control experience, or comparable industry experience.
  • Significant experience at senior level in building control and associated regulations.
  • Experience presenting CPD and training sessions.
  • Experience managing, mentoring and developing staff and technical specialists.
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Pragmatic and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Organised, logical and ambitious, capable of motivating and inspiring a team.
