Assistant Financial Controller (Reporting) - Manchester

Location: Manchester
Contract Duration: 10 months
Hours: 40 hours per week

This is a *Manchester* based role with an excellent immediate start within a Global Technology Client that is working to *Drive the timely resolution of reporting and accounting queries.*

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller (Reporting) to join the Reporting & Operations team in Manchester.

The successful candidate will act as the key technical accounting expert within the Reporting function, taking ownership of group reporting requirements and supporting the end-to-end external audit process. The role requires a strong understanding of both the balance sheet and P&L, with the confidence to challenge accounting treatments and ensure the integrity and accuracy of reported financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the relationship with the Group Reporting function, continuously improving the quality and detail of submissions and schedules provided to Group Finance.
  • Drive the timely resolution of reporting and accounting queries.
  • Support the management of the external audit process, acting as a key liaison for auditors and coordinating audit deliverables across the finance team.
  • Maintain a working understanding of the full balance sheet and P&L to ensure appropriate accounting standards are consistently applied.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers covering areas such as provisions, judgements, implementation of new accounting standards, dividends, and related matters.
  • Maintain key SOX controls relating to Reporting, including local GAAP to US GAAP reconciliations and checks.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of financial systems and processes.
  • Participate in finance projects and complete ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Lead key monthly management meetings and reporting deliverables.
  • Support the financial review and assessment of new contracts.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

The role requires regular interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including:

  • Accounting teams in Manchester and Amsterdam
  • Group Accounting teams in the US
  • FP&A team
  • Finance Senior Management Team
  • Risk & Compliance team
  • External auditors

Skills & Experience

  • ACA qualified preferred; ACCA or CIMA qualified candidates will also be considered.
  • Approximately 4+ years post-qualification experience preferred.
  • Previous experience within a Reporting role.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and US GAAP.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solution-oriented, proactive, and results-driven approach.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
