Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our People Directorate in a key role of Assistant Director - Organisational Design and Development (ODD).

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this appointment is pivotal in leading and setting the strategic direction to drive organisational effectiveness and business performance, which align with NHSBT's long term and people strategies.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic direction of the OD&D function
  • Leading a team of senior professionals, enabling them to deliver people-centric change that aligns with our business and people strategies
  • Acting as a key change leader, focusing on team leadership, direction, and support to drive organisational effectiveness and business performance
  • Collaborating with senior leaders to develop and implement interventions that drive change and improve organisational performance
  • Shaping and embedding NHSBTs desired culture and behaviours while building change capability across the business
  • Core strategic member of the People Senior leadership team.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Masters degree in human resource management or related topic or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Experience
  • Experience of designing and implementing People Strategies and associated plans focused in Leadership Development, Organisational Development, Engagement and organisational wide cultural change.
  • Experience of leading a learning or education function at a senior level.
  • Previous experience of leading engagement and/or staff survey services.
  • Experience of Coaching at a senior leader/exec level.
  • Expert in multiple people-related specialisms including Diversity and Inclusion, Resourcing, Talent, Workforce Planning and change/transformation.
  • Design and deliver strategic organisation design and development interventions. Able to interpret and apply the various terms and conditions of employment and policies and procedures to all staff groups Experience of horizon scanning and HR policy development and implementation for development, design, culture and performance.
  • Experience of dealing with complex Employee Relations issues i.e. investigations, grievances, disputes etc.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law
  • Previous experience of developing, presenting and evaluating people management skills programmes.
  • Previous experience of researching issues to develop evidence-based practice and supporting policy
  • Possess contractual knowledge and experience in devising contractual arrangements.
