Assistant Director of Finance

Assistant Director of Finance Location: Exeter (Hybrid) Rate: £700 per day (umbrella)

A major local authority in Devon is seeking an experienced senior finance leader to help shape its long-term financial strategy and ensure robust governance, compliance, and sustainability during a period of significant change.

The role:

• Lead and coordinate budget monitoring and financial reporting
• Support delivery of the Medium- and Long-Term Financial Plans
• Oversee service closure and production of statutory accounts
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior officers and elected members
• Lead and develop large specialist finance teams

About you:

• Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven experience in senior public sector finance (local authority experience desirable)
• Skilled in strategic planning, financial management, and innovation in service delivery
