Assistant Catering Manager - Secondary School
Location: Wirral Contract: Term Time Only Hours: Full Time (Monday-Friday) Salary: £15.50-£18.50 per hour (dependent on experience) Start Date: September 2026

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Catering Manager to join the catering team at a welcoming secondary school on the Wirral. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with catering and supervisory experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality food services within an educational environment. The successful candidate will support the Catering Manager in the day-to-day operation of the school's catering provision, ensuring excellent food quality, customer service, and compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Catering Manager with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and dining facilities
  • Assist with menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery
  • Supervise catering staff and allocate duties as required
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control
  • Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and hygiene
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
  • Assist with training and supporting catering team members
  • Promote a positive dining experience for students, staff, and visitors
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Previous experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
