Assistant Accountant

A growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Cornwall is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on a temporary basis.

The organisation is undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, with a strong focus on improving processes, developing systems and strengthening its finance function.

Your new roleWorking closely with the Finance Manager and Management Accountant, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function whilst gaining exposure to wider accounting responsibilities.Key duties will include:

• Purchase Ledger processing and supplier management
• Bank reconciliations
• Credit control support
• Accruals and prepayments
• Assisting with management accounts preparation
• Budget monitoring and reporting
• Month-end accounting activities
• Supporting project accounting processes
• Financial reporting and analysis
• Assisting with finance process improvements and systems developments

This role offers significantly more exposure than a traditional Accounts Assistant position and would suit someone looking to bridge the gap between transactional finance and management accounting.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• AAT Level 4 qualification or be actively studying towards AAT
• Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant role
• Experience with purchase ledger and bank reconciliations
• Knowledge of accruals and prepayments
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn
• The ability to adapt within a growing and changing business environment

Experience supporting management accounts or working within an engineering, manufacturing or project-led environment would be advantageous.What you'll get in return
