TEAM

As a member of the Accounting and Controls team, this role will report to the Senior Finance Manager - Accounting & Controls TBC , providing analytical support for operational costs with a focus on Central Overheads Costs, primarily payroll costs.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for delivering the following within the financial accounting function:

  • Ownership of accounting for payroll costs and associated balance sheets
  • Providing insightful analysis and commentary to ensure confidence in financial data for better decision-making
  • Meeting key month-end deliverables to ensure timely payroll payments
  • Enhancing the accounting controls framework in line with standards
  • Maintaining standards of timeliness, accuracy, insight, and presentation in financial close processes
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to improve end-to-end accounting processes

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Partnering

Ensuring support for business owners with accurate insight and information, partnering with cross-functional teams including finance and payroll for seamless performance.

Business Performance and Analytical Support

  • Providing detailed monthly analysis of costs to support business performance
  • Offering confidence in financial numbers and insights into risks and opportunities
  • Driving continuous process improvements in finance and business operations
  • Supporting stakeholders with cost analysis and effective communication

Accounting & Control

  • Generating month-end approval analysis and accurate accounting entries
  • Ensuring the financial accuracy of the Group and entity balance sheets, including reconciliations and journals per accounting policies
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing meaningful changes
  • Providing team coverage during absences, demonstrating a collaborative attitude

People Leadership, Relationships, and Influence

  • Maintaining effective cross-functional relationships
  • Providing subject matter expertise to diverse stakeholders
  • Supporting deep dive projects with analysis

Requirements of the Role

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Studying towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Problem-solving skills and proposing changes
  • Strong attention to detail and issue identification
  • Proactive and inquisitive mindset
  • Ability to explain complex financial matters clearly
  • Time management across tasks and projects
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel
  • Strong academic record
