Job Description

The Supported Accommodation and Assessment Section of Cardiff Council provide essential accommodation, advice, and support to vulnerable single people and families experiencing housing need.

Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we ensure that people in crisis can access safe accommodation and the support they need, whenever they need it.

We are committed to continually developing and modernising our service, with a growing focus on health inclusion. Our aspiration is to work ever more closely with health professionals, community partners, and specialist services to ensure that people experiencing homelessness can access holistic support-addressing not only their housing needs, but their wider health and wellbeing.

We are expanding our approach to meet the increasingly complex needs of those who rely on us, and this role is a key part of that journey.

About the job

The Assessment and Support Manager role is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to lead a section of our Multi Disciplinary Team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a team of Case Coordinators
  • Driving the strategic management and reduction of rough sleeping in Cardiff
  • Supporting vulnerable clients to access and sustain accommodation
  • Preparing individuals for independent living through person centred interventions

You will play a critical leadership role in delivering high quality support to some of the most vulnerable people in the city.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking dynamic, creative, and motivated individuals with the ability to build positive working relationships and lead a busy team effectively.

You will ideally bring:

  • Previous team management or supervisory experience
  • The ability to stay calm and solution focused in challenging environments
  • Experience working with people with complex needs (advantageous)
  • An understanding of issues faced by people experiencing homelessness
