Job Description

Our client is a prominent and UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy known for providing expert advice and services throughout the UK. This company is now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Asbestos Lab Analyst/Manager based in or around the Reading area. The ideal applicant will hold the P401 certification and possess extensive laboratory experience in carrying out and supervising asbestos sampling and analysis. Applications will also be considered from lab analysts looking to develop into a supervisory or management role. Consideration will be given to applicants from Slough, Basingstoke, Oxford and the surrounding areas.

Qualifications & Experience

• Attained P401 qualification (additional qualification beneficial).
• Good formal education.
• Supervisory and management background.
• Experience with equipment validation, maintenance and calibration.
• Strong technical, quality, audit, laboratory and management background.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Extensive laboratory experience within the asbestos parameter.
• Additional certifications such as P401/P402/P403/P404 or S301 CCP are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out asbestos sampling and analysis duties, checking for fibre content.
• Oversee the laboratory team and ensure efficient, effective work.
• Oversee reception and logging of samples.
• Contribute to continuous improvements within the department.
• Monitor work and maintain stock of materials.
• Handle UKAS accreditation matters.
• Liaise with clients regarding samples from sites.
• Control and manage internal QC slide checks, ensuring correct database usage.
• Carry out audit checks.
• Check analytical reports for accuracy.
• Ensure quality systems comply with company procedures and policies.
• Build and maintain rapport with the company's mixed client portfolio.
• Manage staff and ensure timely work.
