Your new companyYou will be joining a well-established public sector organisation responsible for maintaining and enhancing a diverse tree stock across highways, public spaces, and development projects. The team plays a vital role in ensuring tree safety, sustainability, and environmental stewardship while supporting infrastructure improvements and community growth.Your new roleAs an Arboriculture Specialist, you will provide professional arboricultural advice and support across a wide range of projects and operational activities. You will undertake site inspections, assess tree health and condition, specify and instruct tree works, and provide technical guidance on development schemes and planning applications.Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting tree inspections and condition assessments across a varied portfolio of sites
- Providing expert arboricultural advice to colleagues, stakeholders, contractors, and elected members
- Specifying and managing tree maintenance and planting works
- Reviewing planning applications and highway development schemes
- Preparing arboricultural reports and technical recommendations
- Monitoring contractor performance and maintaining strong working relationships
- Managing your own inspection workload and project deadlines
- Ensuring compliance with current arboricultural legislation, standards, and best practice
- Supporting sustainable tree management and environmental objectives
What you'll need to succeed
- Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent practical experience
- Arboricultural Association Technician's Certificate (or working towards achieving it)
- Proven arboriculture experience, including tree inspections, management, or planting schemes
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, pests, diseases, and tree risk assessment
- Understanding of legislation relating to highway trees and development projects
- Experience preparing professional reports and technical documentation
- Knowledge of contract management and contractor supervision
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Competent IT skills and ability to manage workloads independently
- Full driving licence and ability to travel regularly to sites
