Application Solutions Director - Pan-European Logistics Transformation

Contract: 6-12 months (with potential extension to 18 months)
Rate: Market Rates- OUTSIDE IR35
Location: Remote (with occasional European travel, up to 5 days per month)

I'm working with a leading logistics organisation embarking on a major integration and transformation programme following significant change. As part of this journey, we urgently need to appoint an Interim Application Solutions Director to backfill a critical leadership role.

The Role

Reporting at a senior leadership level, you'll take ownership of the Business Applications and Data portfolio across Europe, while supporting the integration and transformation roadmap. You will oversee:

• Business Applications: WMS/TMS, EDI/API integration

• Automation: RPA, Microsoft Power Suite

• Data Functions: strategy, delivery, and embedding into operations

• Team Leadership: 8 direct reports, 95-100 staff, with growth to ~110

Alongside this, the role is responsible for:

• Setting and executing regional enterprise architecture strategy in line with global standards

• Developing long-term IT strategies and evaluating emerging technologies

• Partnering with business and IT leadership to deliver innovative solutions that align with business needs

• Driving RandD to meet future requirements and promoting awareness of IT opportunities

• Managing team priorities and resources, overseeing performance management, and building succession pipelines

• Ensuring clear communication of priorities and achievements across the business

This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring you to align IT solutions with business needs, drive integration planning, and prepare the function for post-merger transformation.

What We're Looking For:

We want a seasoned IT Leader with:

• Pan-European experience in logistics/transportation/Distribution sectors

• Strong applications background across WMS/TMS (Manhattan WMSTMS, Carlo TMS by Soloplan), (ideally)

• EDI/API (MuleSoft, Lobster)

• Automation (UI Path, Microsoft Power Suite)

• Agile delivery and DevOps exposure

• Flexibility to travel up to 5 days per month when required to European offices

• A track record in leading large, multi-country technology teams through change and transformation
