We're looking for an exceptional Application Operations Engineer to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Application Operations Engineer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home.This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world ofexpertise
In this role you will be part of the Operational Suite team who manage the running of our numerical weather prediction models on the Supercomputer. These models deliver important forecast data essential for products for forecasters and customers.
You will providesupport for these important services andwork with the team to test and implement changes, migrate to new technologies, investigate and resolve issues, monitor its services, maintain importantsupport documentation.
- Work with the team tosupport and deliver the team's operational services, building expertise,sharing knowledge.
- Work with the team to continually improve the service we deliver, including investigating incidents and problems to resolve them.
- Work with the team to test and implement changes, ensuring documentation for 24/7support is maintained.

As our Application Operations Engineer, your total reward package will be up to £40,480 annually, which includes:
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
- Recruitment Retention Allowance(RRA)you will be paid £2,200 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this marketdrivenallowance from April 2024 until March 2026 in your monthlypay
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years andoptionto buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annualleave
Essential Criteria,skillsand experience:
- Ability and enthusiasm to analyse systems within an IT environment.
- Troubleshooting technical problems, to resolve in a timely and effective manner.
- The ability to effectively communicate technical information to colleagues and customers
- Good team-working skills and contributing successfully to achieving goals.
