Posting Description Commercial Risk & Reinsurance Broking - Summer Internship Programme 2027
Start Date: 21st June 2027
Application closing date: 7th December 2026 Please note, we may close earlier if we receive the quantity, quality & diversity of applications required.
Better Decisions Begin with You
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
Launch Your Career in Broking
Aon is looking for penultimate-year students to join our Commercial Risk & Reinsurance Summer Internship Programme. You do not need to be an insurance expert on day one. Through our internship, you will learn how brokers help clients understand risk, navigate insurance and reinsurance markets, and make better decisions, that support resilience and growth.
You will build the skills, confidence and market knowledge needed to translate complex risk exposures into structured insurance programs and serve as a credible intermediary between clients and insurers.
What is Commercial Risk and Reinsurance
Commercial Risk
Aon's Commercial Risk team helps organizations around the world identify, understand, and manage the risks that could impact their people, assets, and performance. We partner with clients across industries to design and deliver innovative risk and insurance solutions - from property and casualty to cyber and specialty risks - using data, analytics, and deep market insight to help them make better decisions and protect their business.
ReinsuranceAon's Reinsurance team works with insurance companies and other risk bearing organizations to design reinsurance and capital solutions that strengthen their balance sheets and support profitable growth. By combining analytical expertise, market knowledge, and global reach, we help clients transfer risk, access capital, and respond to emerging challenges such as natural catastrophes, climate risk, and changing regulatory environments.
What You Will Do
You'll join either our Commercial Risk or Reinsurance team and support colleagues with research, analysis and the preparation of clear, accurate client and market materials. As your knowledge develops, you may help organise and review policy files, submissions and placement records, and contribute to account and renewal activity.
You'll gain insight into the lifecycle of our business, including how risks are assessed, presented to the market and supported through placement and claims activity. During the internship, you will begin developing business communication and data and risk analysis skills, while learning how colleagues approach document review, exposure assessment and market analysis in a commercial environment.
We'll give you meaningful responsibility with appropriate support. Over time, you will learn how colleagues coordinate workflows across teams and use AI-enabled tools alongside human expertise. You will also develop the judgement to translate business, client and risk context into relevant outputs before information is used to support recommendations or decisions.
Your Development
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will be enrolled onto our award-winning development programme. For 9 weeks you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities in addition to your role. Here are the key elements of our 9-week Internship development programme:
Our summer internship programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long-term career with us. Your performance during your internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your long-term interests and career ambitions. By choosing a role that matches your aspirations, you'll be better positioned to take full advantage of our Launch development programme, which offers comprehensive support for your professional qualification, a level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute), and ongoing career growth.
Entry Requirements:
We have opportunities this year in the following locations: London
We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. During your 9 weeks as an intern, you will be based in the Aon office or working with clients.
After your internship, if you join us as a graduate, you will spend the first 6 months in the office. This period supports your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
