Job Description

Ansible Automation Engineer

This client Technologies role focuses on advancing infrastructure automation. The Automation Engineer will develop, implement, and support automation solutions across the IT estate, aligning with the company's automation roadmap and corporate strategy. This includes driving cloud migration and improving Business as Usual (BAU) service provisioning as part of an Infrastructure as Code initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert: Provide expert guidance on infrastructure automation and act as a consultant.
  • Standards & Guidelines: Establish and maintain standards for IT automation, including code and documentation practices.
  • Support & Training: Assist other teams with automation challenges, act as a center of excellence, and train Produban members on relevant technologies.
  • Risk Management: Understand and apply I AM Risk principles, identify and manage risks within the team, and contribute to CAB processes.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Contribute to the implementation of IaC principles and best practices.
  • Cloud Migration: Facilitate and improve cloud migrations through automation.
  • Service Provisioning: Enhance automation capabilities for BAU service provisioning.
  • Other Duties: Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Automation & Configuration Management: Proficient with Ansible (mandatory requirement) and Python development.
  • Code Repository: Experience with GitLab.
  • Operating Systems: Experience with automation on Linux, Windows, and VMware.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience automating at least one of vCloud, AWS, or Azure.
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker, Swarm, and Kubernetes.
  • Communication: Strong communication and writing skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Job Scheduling & Runbook Automation: Experience with tools like Rundeck.
  • Code Validation & Deployment: Experience with tools like SonarQube or Jenkins.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot network issues.
  • Scrum: Knowledge of Scrum methodology.
