Animal Health Officer - Arbroath Scotland

Arbroath (On-site across local authority area)
3-Month Contract | Immediate Start

Our public sector client is looking for an experienced Animal Health Officer to support their regulatory team on a short-term contract.

This is a hands-on role focused on routine inspections, compliance, and animal welfare enforcement across a variety of premises.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

Enforcing animal health & welfare legislation
Carrying out licensing compliance inspections (homes, kennels, riding schools, retail, etc.)
Supporting the current part time Animal Health Officer
Investigating animal welfare complaints and supporting disease control activity
Maintaining accurate records in line with Scottish Government standards (including Uniform system)

Focus is on routine surveillance, education, and enforcement - no active disease outbreaks

What You'll Need

Experience within a Scottish local authority regulatory service
Strong knowledge of:
- Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006
- Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Scotland) Regulations 2021
Full UK driving licence + access to a vehicle
