Job Description

Technical Business AnalystMissionJoin the Presidency team at the heart of and of the Presidency as a technical business analyst for EPFL's institutional data. The person supports EPFL in its missions and tasks and responsibilities. Based on the overarching goals set by the President and the Provost, he or she:Manages the annual academic data reporting process (AAR) across all academic units of EPFL. He/she serves as the primary point of contact to explain and clarify issues, gather and analyze needs, identify potential problems, organize and optimize the efficiency of the system, collaborate with IT managers and Academic Affairs to continuously improve the process. Ensures data consistency with other academic reporting, drafts arguments and reports, and collects data for various files of the President and the Provost.Coordinates, in collaboration with the EPFL public affairs unit, the political files of the Federal Chancellery: Open Government (OGD), under the general LMETA framework and the future framework law on secondary data and standards. As needed, collaborates on the Open Source Software (OSS) file. Provides assistance in the production process within the OFS and other specific files (e.g. Ltrans, LPD), closely with the data governance service. Coordinates files between EPFL and external central federal entities (Articles 15 LOGA). Ad hoc support for other service needs (e.g. surveys, project monitoring, dashboards related to the fields of engineering sciences, social sciences or equivalent). A background in data sciences would be an advantage. Very good knowledge of French, German, and English (C1 level minimum in all three languages). Project management skills (writing specifications, process documentation). Experience or strong interest in working with data and modern digital tools, including simple analyses (SQL, API, lightweight scripts), common formats (CSV, JSON) and the use of AI tools. Interest in standardized tools for database management and analysis, as well as writing skills, interpersonal skills, understanding of the academic environment. Good knowledge of the academic environment. Understanding of the institutional challenges of EPFL. Autonomy, precision, rigor, and a very high ability to adapt.
