The Opportunity

The Operations & Asset Management Office is at the heart of Ireland's electricity system, bringing together expert professionals from engineering and commercial backgrounds. We're central to delivering a secure, reliable, and sustainable power system and wholesale electricity market for the island of Ireland - and above all, ensuring the lights stay on.

Our mission is clear: support Ireland's transition to 80% renewable electricity by 2030 and net zero by 2050. We manage real-time system and market operations, ensure financial settlement excellence, and engage directly with market participants. Through continuous improvement and innovation, we're shaping a resilient, future-ready energy system that meets the evolving needs of all electricity users.

We're now seeking an Operational Analyst to join our team - a fantastic opportunity to become part of the Capacity Market Auctions team.

As Operational Analyst, you will work collaboratively across the Group, engaging effectively with key stakeholders, to bring about the change necessary to deliver on our strategic ambitions.

You will use your technical, report writing and verbal communications skills to continuously improve the way we work, making it more efficient and effective as well as transparent and easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences.

We will look to you to support the development of tools to assist with day to day operation of Capacity Market as well as assess the technical qualification and auction outcomes.

In your role, you will analyse and present external and internal data / analysis to identify important trends so that it can be easily understood and utilised by the organisation, DECC, Regulators and auction participants.

You will participate in User Acceptance Testing for new system releases as well as develop business processes to support day to day Capacity Market.

The Team

The Capacity Funding & Delivery team runs the auctions that secure the long-term capacity needed to keep the lights on and support Ireland's transition to a low-carbon future, in line with the Climate Action Plan. Administering auctions with the utmost integrity is a core mandate of this team. We are committed to securing capacity to ensure the lights stay on and to delivering the climate commitments set out by the Government. About you

Successful candidates will have:

  • Third level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Typically 2-4 years relevant technical experience
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Effective communicator and excellent report writing capability
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a flexible approach
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving capability
