Job Description
Overview

If you're looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We're one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We're currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation and Workflow Engineer.

As a technical subject matter expert, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and implementing AI-enabled workflows that significantly improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of legal services. You'll blend legal knowledge with AI engineering, workflow automation, prompt design, and structured change management to turn legal processes into scalable, AI-supported capabilities.

This is an exciting time to join our team, as we're accelerating our AI and automation strategy, creating a unique opportunity for you to help shape how intelligent workflows are designed, deployed, and scaled across a global organisation.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you'll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and build AI-powered workflows using large language models (LLMs) retrieval systems, and orchestration tools
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and change execution teams to drive programme delivery
  • Collaborate with legal and data teams to define data requirements and develop domain specific knowledge stores
  • Embed governance frameworks to ensure data quality, access control and auditability
  • Integrate legal, regulatory, ethical, and confidentiality requirements into AI solution design
  • Implement safety checks, monitoring, and incident management processes for AI enabled workflows
  • Translate complex legal requirements into clear technical solutions and accessible language for non-technical audiences
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of legal processes, workflows, and operating models
  • Proven ability to translate between legal business and technical stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, agentic frameworks, and AL-enabled workflow design
  • Experience building controlled workflows integrating retrieval pipelines, system integrations, automation, and human review checkpoints
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
