AI Engineer

AI & Infrastructure Reports to AI Team Lead (Ireland). Lead POC and R&D into novel Generative AI applications for moofwd's European hub.

We are seeking a highly motivated AI Engineer to join our growing, multicultural AI Hub in Dublin, Ireland. This role is central to supporting our company's AI-first strategy, focusing on R&D and the development of advanced Generative AI capabilities.

As a hands on engineer, you will be responsible for leading Proof-of-Concept (POC) projects and conducting research into novel applications. You will work closely with cross functional teams across our global offices, playing a key role in the development of AI driven IT solutions for world class clients, including leading global financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• POC and R&D: lead Proof of Concept projects and R&D efforts into novel Generative AI applications and custom solutions.
• Testing and Evaluation: design and implement advanced testing frameworks, including LLM as a judge assessments, for model output quality and reliability.
• Model Architecture: develop and optimize solutions using Transformer architectures.
• Monitoring & Observability: design and maintain robust systems for operational monitoring and observability of AI systems.
• AI Governance: implement and adhere to AI governance standards, including documenting LLM limitations and addressing responsible AI concepts.
• Technical Development: be proficient in Python and apply software engineering best practices for building robust AI systems.
• Global Collaboration: coordinate with international hubs (Chile and India) to centralize MLOps infrastructure and maintain global standards.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency: deep proficiency in Python (fundamentals, APIs, package management, testing basics) and software engineering best practices.
• Generative AI Expertise: strong experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) frameworks, and basic AI Agent / Tool Use frameworks.
• AI Foundations: conceptual understanding of ML fundamentals, model evaluation metrics, Vector Databases & Embeddings, and Transformer architectures.
• MLOps & Lifecycle: experience running standard Evaluation & Benchmarking, implementing Monitoring & Observability (reading logs/dashboards), and understanding Drift Detection & Retraining. Logs experiments correctly using tools like MLflow.
• Infrastructure & DevOps: experience with Docker & containerization, and using existing CI/CD & DevOps pipelines.
• Data & SQL: experience in data engineering (cleaning and transforming datasets) and writing basic SQL & data analysis queries.
• Responsible AI: awareness of Responsible AI & Governance (fairness/privacy concepts) and secure coding basics.
• Architecture & Ownership: ability to understand existing systems, document implementations, clearly explain technical work to stakeholders, and take ownership of assigned tasks.
