Your Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of systems engineering principles and prior experience as a Systems Engineer on major programs. They will work with customers and suppliers to execute systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, focusing on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Operating within an Agile team, they will elaborate detailed designs within models and ensure alignment with other Agile teams and security architecture. Responsibilities include defining and leading the engineering lifecycle and ensuring the timely delivery of all engineering tasks within scope.

The role involves:

  • Working with operational stakeholders, technology suppliers, and architects to define system-of-systems requirements.
  • Allocating requirements to lower-level services and conducting technical derivation analysis.
  • Modeling functional requirements and scenarios using MBSE and architectural frameworks.
  • Managing compliance assessments at various system levels.
  • Overseeing development of detailed designs for specific system areas.
  • Producing detailed engineering artifacts such as designs, failure modes analysis, security and safety artifacts, capacity analysis, and compliance reports.
  • Delivering milestone reviews and associated work products.
  • Defining architectural solutions, selecting technologies, and creating onboarding designs.
  • Modeling operational, business, and system behaviors within architectural views.
  • Conducting cost/benefit/technical trade studies.
Who Do We Need?

Required Skills:

  • Experience with architecture modeling tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw Cameo).
  • Knowledge of architecture modeling frameworks and languages (e.g., TOGAF, MODAF, NAF, SysML, Archimate).
  • Experience in large-scale, mission-critical, complex integration programs.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Experience developing system behavioral diagrams and functional models.
  • Proven success in systems engineering environments.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills and requirements analysis capabilities.
  • Knowledge of related disciplines like program management, supplier management, and service management.
  • Experience conducting trade solutions to assess options and define optimal solutions.
  • Strong understanding of requirements and user scenario development.
  • Experience designing/delivering systems in virtualized environments.
  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architectures.

Security & Compliance Experience:

  • Understanding of IT risks, security implementations, and software programs.
  • Knowledge of CIA principles and applying security best practices.
  • Experience defining security requirements and managing traceability.
  • Experience obtaining and maintaining accreditation for secure systems.
  • Production of security documentation (e.g., SyOPS, RMADs, Security Management Plans).
Bonus Skills
  • ITIL and Service Management roles and processes.
  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Management or safety-related systems.
  • Commitment to sharing ideas, technologies, and best practices.
  • Innovative thinking and unconventional approaches.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
