BCL Legal is excited to partner with a leading national law firm to recruit an Associate for their top-tier Advisory & Inquests team. This excellent opportunity offers a full-time, permanent role with flexible and hybrid working arrangements. The RoleAs an Advisory & Inquests Associate, your responsibilities will include:
- Joining one of the country's largest and most prestigious teams (Tier 1 in Chambers), delivering expert advisory and inquest services to both public and private sector clients in the health and social care sector.
- Managing a diverse caseload of inquest and Court of Protection matters (including health and welfare applications and advocacy), primarily for NHS clients, with the chance to work with independent healthcare providers and local authorities.
- Handling national Court of Protection and inquest cases as part of a team renowned for delivering high-quality legal services on complex matters.
- Gaining exposure to a broader range of health and social care advisory work, including:
- Serious medical treatment cases
- Mental health and mental capacity issues
- Deprivation of liberty
- Safeguarding
- Judicial review and Human Rights Act claims
- Information governance (DPA/FOI)
- Continuing healthcare/IFR and funding disputes
To be considered for this Advisory & Inquest Associate role, you should possess:
- 1-3 years of PQE, ideally with experience in Court of Protection health and welfare applications, inquest advocacy, or other healthcare advisory work.
- Strong advocacy and case management skills, ideally from experience in the Court of Protection, inquests, or a related area.
- Exposure to health and social care advisory matters (e.g., mental health, safeguarding, funding disputes) is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and deliver training.
- Strong attention to detail, with a track record of producing high-quality written advice.
- Familiarity with the NHS and online research tools and case management systems.
- A collaborative and flexible approach, with solid organisational skills and the ability to meet financial targets.
