Advanced nurse practitioner in specialist palliative care

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic nurse to work within the Specialist Palliative Care team, 7-day service. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering an innovative service model that aims to provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients with life limiting illnesses and their families.You will need to have good clinical knowledge around end of life care, complex symptom control and advanced communication skills.
As a band 7 ANP you will be required to support and lead the day to day service and help manage more junior staff.
Main duties of the jobAs a band 7 advanced nurse practitioner you will deliver autonomous advanced level clinical practice to patients with complex specialist palliative and end of life care needs.
Your role will encompass elements of clinical practice, education, research, leadership and service development whilst maintaining a strong focus on patient centred holistic care.

Job description Job responsibilitiesDeliver high quality, autonomous care to patients within Specialist Palliative Care using advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills.
Support and advise complex symptom management for palliative care and end of life patients.
Support and mentor junior staff contributing to their development and overall capability of the team.
Develop and deliver teaching sessions to team members and wider teams.
Actively participate in service improvement initiatives, research, and audit activities to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
Ensure safe and effective clinical practice through evidence based care adhering to our professional code of conduct.
Enhance patient experience by delivering compassionate, and holistic personalised care.

Person Specification Essential- NMC Registration
- Non-medical prescribing qualification or ability to complete within 18 months of appointment
- A degree healthcare related or equivalent palliative care course (i.e Princess Alice-European Certificate in essential Palliative Care)
- Evidence of professional updating within the last 12 months
- Experience of implementing change
- Experience within palliative care
- Clear understanding of the clinical nurse specialist role
- Effective leadership
- Service development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and record keeping
- Positive and enthusiastic role model
- Courteous and polite
- Flexible approach to weekend working and some lone working
- Complex Reasoning
- Can act on own initiative
- Ability to communicate with senior staff within the profession, and other professions, patients/carers
- Ability to communicate empathetically with Patients, Relatives and or Carers when discussing/explaining clinical conditions and potentially distressing and sensitive information such as breaking bad news
