Adult Social Care Locum

Location: Sheffield Hybrid & Remote considered Salary: Up to £70 per hour (dependent on experience)Contract: Ongoing Locum AssignmentStart Date: ASAP CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading Local Authority in Sheffield who are seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Locum Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on an ongoing basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Adult Social Care lawyer to join a supportive and experienced local government legal team, providing high-quality legal advice on complex and rewarding matters that directly support the protection of vulnerable adults. Due to continued demand and increased caseloads, the authority is looking for additional legal resource to support its busy Adult Social Care service. The successful candidate will work closely with social care professionals, senior officers and partner agencies, providing expert legal guidance and advocacy.

You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of Adult Social Care and community care matters, including:

• Court of Protection proceedings
• Mental Capacity Act matters
• Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
• Adult safeguarding matters
• Providing legal advice and support to Adult Social Care teams
• Public law advice and challenges to local authority decision-making
• Preparing legal documentation, statements and applications
• Conducting advocacy where required
• Liaising with internal departments, external agencies, Counsel and other professionals

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive status
• Strong experience within Adult Social Care law
• Experience dealing with Court of Protection and Mental Capacity Act matters
• The ability to manage a complex caseload independently
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within a Local Authority environment is desirable but not essential
