Job overviewWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Safeguarding & Learning Disability Specialist Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team. The successful candidate will be based cross site and will play a crucial role in supporting the Trust in meeting its national and local safeguarding requirements. This role includes responsibilities for delivering and enhancing our training programs related to Adult Safeguarding and Learning Disabilities.
Main duties of the job- Provide specialist knowledge and detailed advice on Adult Safeguarding procedures and Learning Disabilities to staff and partners, including the police, local authorities, and charities.
- Act as a clinical lead and role model, managing a caseload and providing support to staff across all hospital services.
- Contribute to the delivery and development of Adult Safeguarding and Learning Disability training programs for all multidisciplinary staff within the Trust.
- Work creatively with Trust staff to plan and support safe pathways for people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, ensuring reasonable adjustments to care services.
- Act as a contact point for communication between hospital staff and community health and social services.
- Support the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and ensure the engagement of people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism in key decisions related to their care.
- Participate in multi-professional discharge meetings and ensure the views of people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism are captured through patient experience surveys.
- Undertake audits as per the Trust's Safeguarding Audit Framework and contribute to the Learning Disability and Adult Safeguarding quarterly and annual reports.
- Deputise for the Learning Disability and Adult Safeguarding Deputy Lead Nurse as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience in supporting people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism and adults experiencing or at risk of abuse.
- Proven ability to manage people, processes, quality, and productivity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience in delivering training and presentations to both small and large groups.
