Admissions Administrator

Fixed term until 13 August 2026 or upon the return of the post holder, whichever is sooner.
Interview Date: 14 April 2026
As an Admissions Administrator, you'll be a key part of the University's centralised admissions team, delivering a high-quality, applicant-focused service. You'll manage applications across a designated portfolio of courses, ensuring they are processed efficiently, accurately, and in line with university policies and procedures.
You'll develop specialist knowledge of your course areas and become a trusted point of contact for both applicants and colleagues, offering clear and timely advice on admissions processes. Your post will also involve maintaining accurate records, responding to enquiries across multiple platforms, and supporting key university events such as Open Days, Confirmation, Clearing and Enrolment. This is a rewarding post that offers variety and the opportunity to make a real impact on the applicant-student journey.
This post requires excellent attention to detail, communication skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work within increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.
Please note: this post involves occasional evening and weekend work during peak periods, particularly in August and September, when annual leave restrictions may apply.
We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and pay the real living wage, which is currently £25,949 per annum. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 4 salary before living wage.
About YouYou'll be organised, detail-oriented, and experienced in delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced, team environment. Confident and clear in your communication, you'll handle enquiries across phone, email, and in person with professionalism and empathy. You'll have excellent administrative skills, able to follow procedures and manage competing priorities with accuracy and care. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is essential, and experience with databases is desirable. While knowledge of student record systems is a plus, full training will be provided. You'll be adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in supporting applicants through their journey. Flexibility is required, including occasional evening and weekend work during peak periods such as August and September.
