Join Our Client as a Court Administrator & Usher in Crewe!

Are you organised, professional, and eager to make a difference in the justice system? Our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), is seeking a dedicated Administration Officer with Court Usher duties to support the smooth running of court proceedings in Crewe. This is a full-time temporary role with potential for extension, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a fair and accessible justice system.

What you'll be doing:
  • Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetings
  • Producing and updating court documents and records on internal systems
  • Data input and drafting standard correspondence
  • Clerking Civil and Family Courts, tribunals, and hearings
  • Setting up court and hearing rooms, ensuring they are ready and cleared afterwards
  • Calling parties into court in priority order and escorting court users as needed
  • Supporting vulnerable adults and children attending hearings
  • Keeping parties informed of hearing updates
  • Liaising with Court Clerks, Legal Advisers, Judiciary, Witness Service, and external agencies
  • Assisting court users with general queries

As a Court Usher, you will be the first point of contact, ensuring a professional, safe, and organised environment. Your role is vital in supporting the judiciary and maintaining the integrity of court proceedings, often requiring sensitivity and resilience when dealing with vulnerable individuals.

What you'll bring:
  • Ability to follow established processes and instructions
  • Calmness and professionalism in challenging situations
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathy and discretion when supporting vulnerable individuals
Additional details:
  • Location: Crewe
  • Contract: 3 months, with potential extension
  • Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday
  • Pay rate: £12.86/hour, increasing to £13.25 after 12 weeks
  • Benefits include weekly pay, holiday entitlement, and pension scheme
