Administrative Officer - Probation Service
Location: Leicester Leicestershire LE1 2LB
Hourly rate: £12.71 going up to £12.95 after 12 weeks,
Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00om, 5 days 30 hours, 9am till 5pm but can change due to business needs
Length of assignment: ASAP till December 2026 with possibility of extension.
Our client, a reputable organisation within the Probation Service, is hiring for an Administrative Officer to support daily operations within their team. This is a vital role that ensures smooth administrative processes, supporting Probation Officers and contributing to positive outcomes for individuals on probation.
What you'll be doing- Setting up and maintaining accurate records on probation and victim databases
- Managing referrals and fostering effective relationships with offender management, victims, and external agencies
- Preparing, collating, and maintaining case files and management information in line with standards
- Handling communications via phone, email, and paper, and providing reception cover
- Acting as a point of contact for specialist areas, supporting meetings, and organising agendas and notes
- Making practical arrangements such as appointments and directions for Sentence Plans
- Carrying out enforcement administration and managing petty cash and vouchers
- Reporting faulty equipment and maintaining resource systems
- Supporting safeguarding duties and promoting pro-social behaviour in line with policies
- Providing cover across units and supporting team activities
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and basic Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals
- Ability to work independently and use initiative effectively
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience working with databases and managing administrative tasks in a busy environment
- This role may involve some out-of-hours work
- You will need to pass security and identity checks before starting
- All candidates will undergo a probation period

Training: Yes, fully office based whilst in training and possible working from home pending performance.
Additional clearance if applicable: Please note that if you have spent a period of 6 months or longer outside of the UK, in the last 3 years, we will unfortunately require an additional overseas police check, this will be the responsibility of the candidate to provide.
