Administrative Officer
Location: Sefton Magistrates Court, 29 Merton Road, Bootle, Merseyside, L20 3XX
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Working Pattern: Fully office-based
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £13.25 per hour thereafter
Contract Length: Until 31 March 2027
Clearance Required: Basic DBS to be provided by Brook Street for successful applicants
We are currently recruiting for an Administrative Officer to join HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) based at Sefton Magistrates Court. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to support the smooth running of court operations and contribute to the delivery of an effective justice system.
Working within a busy court environment, you will provide vital administrative and operational support, ensuring court cases, hearings, and tribunal processes are managed efficiently and accurately.
As an Administrative Officer, your duties will include:
- Preparing court papers, files, and documentation for hearings, tribunals, meetings, and court proceedings.
- Producing and issuing court documents in line with established procedures.
- Creating, maintaining, and updating records using internal HMCTS systems.
- Completing accurate data entry and maintaining case management information.
- Drafting standard correspondence, letters, and legal documents.
- Clerking Civil and Family Courts, tribunals, and hearings where required.
- Assisting court users and members of the public with general enquiries and providing guidance on court processes.
- Ensuring all administrative work is completed accurately, confidentially, and within agreed timescales.
- Supporting colleagues and stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of court services.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous administrative experience within a busy office environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience of working with computer systems and handling data accurately.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A professional and customer-focused approach when dealing with members of the public and stakeholders.
- The ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- A reliable and flexible approach to work.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Full training will be provided.
- Ongoing support and development will be available throughout the assignment.
- Pre-booked holiday can generally be accommodated during the training period, provided it is not excessive.
- This role is fully office-based at Sefton Magistrates Court.
- No travel to other locations is required for training.
- The assignment is expected to run until 31 March 2027, with a strong possibility of extension.
- Candidates must be able to pass a Basic DBS check before commencing employment.
