Job Description

Role: Band 3 Receptionist - NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Centre
Employer: Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH)
Location: Cambridge, Bio Medical Campus
Contract: Fixed term 1 year (extendable)
Salary: £25,760 - £27,476 p.a. pro rata
Hours: Full time (37.5 hrs/week) or Part time/Flexible working as discussed

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and study participants, directing them appropriately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of meeting rooms, waiting areas and reception spaces.
  • Provide professional telephone and in person enquiry service for the ward reception area.
  • Assist with set up for meetings, interviews and training sessions.
  • Enter clinic list bookings and patient appointments into EPIC and CRFManager systems.
  • Register, check and update patient details in EPIC and CRF Manager, informing participants of any delays.
  • Collaborate with other administrators across the Clinical Research Facility, Clinical Investigation Ward and CCRC to provide reception cover.
  • Receive deliveries and post, forwarding relevant information to staff.
  • Handle printing, filing and administrative minute taking duties.
  • Report defective equipment or room fittings to appropriate personnel.
  • Occasionally work unsocial hours, including evenings, to meet service needs.
Qualifications
  • Numerate and literate.
  • GCSE level education or equivalent.
Experience
  • Planning and organising straightforward tasks.
  • Working within agreed guidelines and timescales.
  • Using IT packages (Word, Excel).
  • Working in an office environment.
  • Customer service or public interaction experience.
  • Previous NHS experience (preferred).
  • Call handling experience.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of confidentiality and patient safety.
  • Basic knowledge of the Trust and its services.
  • EPIC training.
Skills
  • Effective teamwork.
  • Clear communication (telephone, email, face to face).
  • Adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Time management and scheduling.
  • Basic IT proficiency - Microsoft Office, Outlook.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and safeguard confidential documents.
