Accountant

Our Manufacturing client is seeking an Accountant to support the Finance Manager, covering day-to-day activities, initially on a fixed-term contract of 6 months with a strong possibility of becoming permanent.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the business, supporting financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making while contributing to ongoing improvements in financial processes.

Initially 2 days on-site in Portlaoise, moving to fully remote once established in the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Month-End
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation and audit requirements
• Analyse margins, pricing, and profitability across products or service lines
• Monitor working capital performance, including cash flow, inventory, and debtors
• Provide ad-hoc financial modelling and analysis as required
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company policies

Key Skills & Competencies

• Qualifications & Experience
• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
• Experience working within an industry environment
• Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling)
• Experience using ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics is an advantage)
• Experience with VAT returns would be advantageous.
