About Shellworks

Developed for a throwaway culture, plastics have caused significant pollution to our natural environments. 90% of all plastics ever created have never been recycled, causing widespread pollution and health impacts from chemicals and microplastics.

We believe there must be a better way and our first innovation Vivomer does just that, if nature made a plastic this would be it. Vivomer, a polymer made by microorganisms, behaves just like plastic in use, but degrades naturally upon disposal. It can be rigid or flexible, matte or glossy. Developed through cutting-edge material science, mechanical engineering, design, and operations, Vivomer represents a groundbreaking step towards a pollution-free future.

The nature of our work is frequently described as impossible, but if like us, you're driven by the challenge to prove that there is a better way to do things, join us.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside Shellworks' founders and early team to scale the future of materials inspired by nature. You'll gain hands-on experience in scaling and growing a startup, tackling a variety of challenges, and cultivating a mindset focused on achieving impactful goals. The role spans across business development and customer success. Expect to work with a positive, passionate, ambitious, incredibly inter-disciplinary team and have high levels of autonomy to create meaningful environmental impact.

When you join us you'll:

  • Manage Existing Customers: Work with our existing customers to manage their ongoing product orders and new orders with us. Work with marketing, sales and founders to grow our existing customer average value.

  • Expand existing customer orders: Keep them up to date on new developments at Shellworks, pitch new products to them and close new purchase orders.

  • Gather customer feedback: Create a defined process to gather customer testimonials. Support senior sales leaders to expand existing customers.

  • Automate processes: With the help of your manager, and our content lead create automated sequences to follow up with our clients in a more streamlined way.

Our Ideal Candidate

Must-haves:

  • You have 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing role such as BDM, CSM, etc.

  • You strive to exceed customer expectations: keeping clients informed, seeking out opportunities for improved collaboration, problem-solving, etc.

  • You're a critical thinker who will constantly strive to improve your own work, the processes in place, and politely challenge the status quo.

  • You believe that the high autonomy environment of an early-stage start-up is the right place to unleash your potential.

Nice-to-haves:

  • You have technical product knowledge or the ability to understand complex product processes, particularly in the context of sustainable materials.

  • You have a BA or MSc in science, maths, engineering, microbiology, etc.

  • It would be a bonus if you speak another language fluently besides English; ideally French or German.

Expectations and goals:

  • Prioritise customer experience to deliver excellent outcomes.

  • Support our goal of tripling revenue this year (and again next year) - existing customers are core to this growth

  • Deliver and help design best-in-class customer relationship practices
