We're looking for enthusiastic and dedicated A-Level Textiles Teachers to support secondary schools and sixth forms across Leeds. Whether you're an experienced teacher, an ECT looking to build your experience, or simply looking for a new challenge, this is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students and help them develop the creative, technical, and practical skills needed to progress into further education and careers within the creative industries.
What does an A-Level Textiles Teacher do?- Plan and deliver engaging A-Level Textiles and Fashion lessons
- Support students in developing their creative ideas from initial concepts through to final outcomes
- Teach students advanced practical skills including textiles construction, surface design, embroidery, printing, pattern cutting, and garment construction
- Develop students' understanding of materials, fabrics, fibres, sustainability, and contemporary textile design
- Support students with coursework, portfolio development, and exam preparation
- Provide detailed feedback and guidance to help students refine and improve their work
- Encourage students to develop their own creative identity and independent working practices
- Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to support development
- Build positive relationships with students and inspire them to pursue further study or careers within Textiles, Fashion, and the wider creative industries
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider Art and Design or Design Technology department
- Make a real difference to the lives and education of young people
- Work across a variety of welcoming secondary schools and sixth forms in Leeds
- Support students preparing for university, further education, and careers in the creative industries
- Gain experience across different school environments and Textiles departments

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience
- A degree or qualification in Textiles, Fashion, Art, Design Technology, or a related subject
- Experience teaching Textiles at A-Level or KS5 is highly desirable
- Strong subject knowledge across Textiles, Fashion, and/or Art and Design
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Strong practical skills and knowledge of textiles techniques and processes
- Experience supporting students with coursework and portfolio development
- A passion for inspiring and motivating young people
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- ECTs with relevant subject knowledge are welcome to apply!
