The Role

As the successful Tax Consultant, you will report into one of the Head's of Tax and will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support partners and directors in the smooth operation of the team and assist in securing new work
  • Lead the delivery of technical advisory projects across your portfolio
  • Manage one-off advisory and compliance assignments as required
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships
  • Work with partnerships and high-net-worth individuals across a range of tax matters
  • Handle a broad range of capital gains tax issues
  • Produce high-quality written reports, advice, and technical documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement changes to enhance team efficiency
The Person

The successful Tax Consultant will meet the following criteria:

  • CTA qualified (or equivalent), or able to demonstrate strong and relevant practical experience
  • Strong technical understanding of core private client tax issues, including anti-avoidance legislation
  • Confident in liaising with HMRC on complex matters on behalf of clients
  • Able to deliver clear, confident advice in transactional, contentious, or high-pressure situations
  • Experienced in reporting on the tax implications of incorporation, restructuring, and changes in business status
  • Proven ability in report writing, preparing technical advice, and handling ad hoc queries
  • Experience in Inheritance Tax planning, including the use of trusts and the tax impact of lifetime transfers
  • Skilled in managing direct tax enquiries, including settlement discussions and penalty negotiations
