3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join Leidos UK within the Defence Team, based in Herefordshire.

In response to our growing business, Leidos requires multiple 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineers to support expansion by developing compelling solutions for our current and future customers.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will primarily be responsible for the operation and maintenance of MS System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM). They should also demonstrate effective application of infrastructure knowledge across various technologies such as Microsoft Windows Server (including AD, DNS, DHCP), virtualization (Hyper-V), Microsoft Stack Technologies (SharePoint, SQL Server, Skype for Business/Teams), networking, and storage.

This role offers technical exposure across both project activities and operational support, including on-site and out-of-hours support. The candidate will contribute to creating and maintaining technical documentation to support projects and operational services.

Who do we need?

We are looking for someone passionate about infrastructure, preferably with a background in operational support services. You should be self-motivated, capable of working independently to meet daily objectives, and able to manage activities ensuring compliance with project milestones, KPIs, and SLAs. Effective communication skills and a systematic approach to technical challenges are essential.

Ideally, you will:

  • Have excellent knowledge of MS System Centre Configuration Manager/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM);
  • Have excellent knowledge of virtualized environments such as VMware and Hyper-V;
  • Have excellent knowledge of Windows Server environments, from Server 2003 to 2019, including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPO, from design to support;
  • Possess good general knowledge of TCP/IP and networking, including load balancing and firewalls;
  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Skype for Business/Teams, MS SQL, MS System Centre (SCSM, SCOM, SCORCH), Office365, MS Exchange, and CLI tools like PowerShell;
  • Have a good understanding of SAN storage technologies;
  • Display excellent problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents to ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Possess strong communication skills;
  • Experience in producing and updating high-standard technical documentation.
