Job title: 3rd Line Senior Network Engineer

Location: Bracknell or Basingstoke Salary: £55k plus 3% bonus

This role involves working over 2 shifts: 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm.

Candidates must be willing and eligible to undergo SC clearance.

Responsibilities include providing operational support to a large enterprise network that operates 24/7 across two data centres and remote offices throughout the UK. You will collaborate with the team to maintain on-premise networks, perform configuration changes, upgrades, and liaise with third parties, internal teams, and end customers.

This role involves working with cutting-edge technology on National Critical Infrastructure projects of national importance. The environment is mainly Juniper, with Cisco experience being advantageous but not essential; Cisco engineers eager to learn can be trained.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. Hands-on troubleshooting experience with enterprise networks.
2. Solid understanding of IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, static routing, HSRP, VRF, tunneling protocols).
3. Strong knowledge of Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, port-security, 802.1X, spanning-tree).
4. Experience with firewalls such as Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASA, including features like ASDM, ACLs, IPSEC VPNs.
5. Experience working with Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco ISR and ASR routers, and Cisco ISE.
6. Understanding of network-level encryption.
7. Strong experience with Juniper leaves, spines, and switches.
8. F5 Load Balancers knowledge.
9. Knowledge of Cisco ISE Appliance.

Desirable Skills:

1. Core routing and switching knowledge at CCNP level.
2. Experience with Catapans.
3. Knowledge of Juniper Apstra.
