Job Ref: HP-3053 Redcar, United Kingdom Competitive Power Grids Contract275kV Lead Commissioning Engineer/SAP - Project 275kV Substations & National Grid Interface - Teeside, England, UK - £Excellent Day Rate - 12 Month Rolling Contract (3 Years+) - ASAP Start (Can Wait 4-8 Weeks) - Monday to Friday (10 Hour Days) - Outside IR35We're currently supporting one of our key clients in securing an experienced 275kV Lead Commissioning Engineer / SAP for a major substation project in Teeside, England.This is a crucial appointment with responsibility for leading 275kV substation commissioning and operational activities, while acting as a key interface with National Grid throughout the connection, energisation and handover programme.The successful candidate will form part of the project's Operations & Commissioning team and provide the specialist 275kV expertise required to safely deliver the HV scope through commissioning, energisation, performance testing and final handover.Key Details:Location: Teeside, England, UKStart Date: ASAP - flexibility of waiting 1-2 months for the right candidateDuration: 12 month rolling contract (3 Years+ total)Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (10 hour days)Additional: Outside IR35Responsibilities:Lead commissioning and operational activities across the project's 275kV HV systemsAct as a senior HV Commissioning Engineer / SAP within the Operations & Commissioning teamTake responsibility for HV switching, safety and operational activitiesCoordinate and interface with National Grid throughout the connection, commissioning and energisation programmeEnsure activities are completed in accordance with applicable HV and National Grid safety requirementsSupport the development and implementation of HV safety rules, switching procedures and operational processesAssess competency and support the nomination/appointment of other personnel for HV operational dutiesReview commissioning procedures, switching schedules, test documentation and energisation plansProvide technical leadership and guidance to commissioning and electrical personnelSupport the project through commissioning, energisation, operational readiness, performance testing and handoverWork closely with Commissioning Management, Operations Management and engineering teamsRequirements:Extensive 275kV and/or 400kV substation commissioning experienceStrong background as a Lead Commissioning Engineer (& ideally a Senior Authorised Person (SAP Current or previous TP141/BP141/SR141 authorisation is beneficial but not mandatoryProven HV switching and safety-rule competencyPrevious experience working on National Grid transmission projects or grid connectionsStrong understanding of National Grid safety rules, commissioning processes and operational requirementsExperience interfacing directly with National Grid during commissioning and energisationAbility to lead HV commissioning activities and provide technical direction to wider project teamsThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 275kV/400kV Commissioning Engineer / SAP looking for a senior role on a major, long-term, UK energy infrastructure programme.Interested?
