Specialist Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Wheelchair & Seating

The advert is for 1 Part time post 22.2 hrs over 3 days.

Please note: As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Wheelchair & Seating Services therapist team at the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. The SMART Centre () provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient-focused assessment and prescription of manual and powered wheelchairs and postural supports.
  • Utilise specialist levels of decision making and clinical judgment to maximise function and independence with appropriate pressure relief and management.
  • Apply knowledge of wheelchairs and seating; training will be provided if required.
  • Provide advice, education and training to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, external healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives.
  • Participate in quality management and improvement activities within the service.
